Sports Minister Lee Ki-heung 'virtually rejects' recommendations to improve sports fairness commission

The President of the Korea Sports Federation (KSF) has effectively rejected recommendations from the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MOCET) to improve the composition and operation of sports fairness committees.

Speaking at a press conference in Gimhae, Gyeongsangnam-do, today (Nov. 17), Lee said that while the ministry (MOC) says that the Sports Fairness Commission is at its disposal, that is not the case, and that the recommendation to change the relevant regulations is unacceptable.

This is a de facto rejection of the ministry's recommendation to the Korea Sports Council on Tuesday to improve the composition and operation of the Sports Fairness Commission, which deliberates on whether to allow sports organization executives to remain in office.

The ministry had notified the KFA that it had issued a corrective order to submit an implementation plan to improve the unfair recommendation by tomorrow (Nov. 18), 파워볼사이트 and that it would consider further action if it failed to do so.

In response to the recommendation to improve the composition and operation of the Sports Fairness Committee, Chairman Lee Ki-heung first argued that the process of forming the Sports Fairness Committee has already begun and the parties will be notified on the 21st, saying, “If you want to change it, you should change it before the process starts or change it through the next system improvement, not change it now.

He also explained that there are eight major issues raised by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, which have been covered in recent parliamentary hearings and are being investigated by the National Audit Office and the Office of the Chief Cabinet Secretary.

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) is also closely monitoring our situation, Lee said, and he expressed concern that the KFA would be subject to unfair interference from political power.

He also vowed that he and his staff would work diligently on the investigation into the KFA, saying, “We will fix any mistakes or problems that are revealed with the attitude of a broken bone.

As for whether or not he would challenge for a second term as president of the KFA, Lee responded evasively that he was not prevented from doing so, saying that he would just have to go through the process to become a candidate.
